An upside down view of an underwater world.
This photograph was taken a few months ago while I was out on assignment for the Palo Alto Weekly newspaper. These are synchronized swimmers warming up in preparation for the first event of a long journey to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics. I was given seven minutes to photograph from the underwater window. The photo was published on the newspaper, the editor and staff loved it so I guess I did a good job :)
I just got started with tumblr but here’s my link for it http://andrezandona.tumblr.com

My work fluctuates between photojournalism/street photography and landscape photography. Two very different approaches that I find hard to distinguish, it has been said in different ways in the past but cities and the life within them are the “wild” locations where we live.
I embrace the ordinary and try to make a photograph wherever I find myself. Given that I live in a major city (San Francisco), street photography with my Fuji X100 feels like a natural choice ; however, I also have a passion for the outdoors so I often find myself out on backpacking trips with my tripod and my DSLR.
If I had summarize my vision in photography I would say I enjoy photographing the ordinary and hope that by doing so I can show others how extra-ordinary things can become once we stop for a moment and look at them within four frames. I believe photography can be a tool in appreciating simple aspects of our lives. If that’s true, then life can be pretty exciting.
Thanks!
